(Note: Burchfield, 1893-1967, was an American painter and visionary artist who worked in watercolors to create nature scenes and townscapes. Much of his work hangs in the Burchfield-Penney Art Center in Buffalo, New York.
He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, and most of his early work was done in Salem, Ohio, where he lived with his widowed mother. His art also may be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, both in New York City.
