quotes

“There are things that attract human attention, and there is often a huge gap between what is important and what is attractive and interesting."

Yuval Noah Harari

“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.”

― William Blake, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell

 Hatred always kills
 love never dies .
 Gandhi

“If you could only keep quiet, clear of memories and expectations, you would be able to discern the beautiful pattern of events. It’s your restlessness that causes chaos.”

— Nisargadatta Maharaj

To keep the body in good health is a duty.. otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.

Poverty is an economic trap that also becomes a spiritual trap. Meaningful work that keeps us busy and lifts us up materially is the key to escaping the "spiritual economic trap".

 William James was interested in mindfulness and attention:

 “The faculty of voluntarily bringing back a wandering attention, over and over again, is the very root of judgment, character, and will. No one is compos sui [master of himself] if he have it not. An education which should improve this faculty would be the education par excellence.”

“When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful" @Malala

Look to this day

by Kalidasa

Look to this day:
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendor of achievement
Are but experiences of time.

For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!

From a spiritual perspective material wealth can be a hindrance. From a material perspective wealth can be a tool for spiritual growth.

The point is that we should not hold the concrete entity strongly—this is the main bondage of samsara, the main reason for being caught in pain. Not just the perceived view—the perceived view is something else.
-Lama Yeshe
