M.S. and other ailments

My balance is a problem that seems to be helped by doing knee bends.  My last hospital stay involved getting some exercises from an occupational therapist who corrects a long held belief of mine.  My understanding was that a person with artificial knee and hip joints should avoid knee bends.  He says that 6 months after surgery, squats are beneficial.   It is early days but my progress makes me think he is right about the benefits achieved through doing knee bends.

This is different from what past physios have prescribed.  They gave me a series of 8 simple exercises that seemed to do nothing so I substituted walking with a walker for said balance exercise.
